    What To Bring

Weather and conditions in Maine can change quickly. It is extremely important to prepare for a wide range of weather. Typically, the air temperature on the water will be up to 15 degrees lower than on land. While Maine Saltwater does prepare for these situations, it is best if you bring layers of warm clothing and rain gear. WE FISH IN THE RAIN! If you look out the window the day of your trip and wonder if we are going to fish due to bad weather, the answer is probably a resounding “YES!” Remember, fish don’t care if they get wet and often are far more receptive to the idea of being hooked on rainy days.

    • Foul Weather Gear
    • Warm layers (fleece) and windproof layers
    • Sunglasses
    • Sunscreen
    • Hat
    • Camera
    • Medications
    • Your own fishing gear if you prefer. We recommend 8-12 Wt. flyrods with 250-550 grn shooting head and/or intermediate lines. For flies bring clousers and deceivers in various sizes/colors.
    • For spin casters,  8-17 lb. class rods with rubber lures such as the Storm 4″ bunker patterns, bucktails and Chug Bugs are the ticket.

    What We Provide

    • All rods, reels, and tackle necessary
    • Coffee and soft drinks
    • A safe, comfortable boat
    • An experienced Coast Guard licensed Maine Guide
    • Witty banter, boring stories and lots of lies about the Maine Coast and the fish we have caught.
